Weld Root Pass Monitoring

and Inspection System

The Xiris BeadScan system scans, measures and records welded beads typically found on the back side of a root pass weld process.

The BeadScan system generates a very high resolution, on-axis 2D image and 3D surface profile of the weld bead for post weld analysis.

Featuring a compact integrated sensor head with a low-profile design, the Beadscan system fits inside any pipe, 300mm (12”) or larger.

Various data recording options are available to save and share measurement data over robust high data rated cables up to 100m in length. The advanced optical design provides a large depth of field to ensure excellent image quality and accurate measurements of up to 8 mm of weld bead height variation.

High Resolution Images

A high resolution laser profiler and 2D on-axis area scan image sensors capture continuous images of both the profile measurement and weld bead appearance in color.

Analyze & Annotate

Record weld profiles and color 2D images of the complete weld profile for off-line quality measurement analysis, annotation or to be kept as a production reference in case of future issues with the welded product.

Measurement Tools

Integrated bead profile inspection tools can automatically measure weld bead geometry (i.e. width, height, concavity, undercut and mismatch) against predefined tolerances to determine quality of root pass.

Seeing is believing

The system includes sensor head hardware comprising a high-resolution laser triangulation system, a high resolution on axis-camera with its own specialized lighting and integrated software to fully inspect, analyze, annotate and record each root pass weld with an intuitive, easy to use interface.

Software Upgrades
Xiris releases a major new release of software on average once a year. Minor upgrades occur more frequently. Our technicians may upgrade client systems while on site at a client’s request.

Service & Training
Xiris provides its customer base with various levels of service, including new system installation and training, system upgrades and preventative maintenance programs. Many of our partners are trained to offer additional support on our systems.

System Upgrades
Many of our older systems in the field have been upgraded to allow the use of new hardware and software features including improved system reliability, system security, production reporting and updated operating systems. Do you have an older Xiris vision system? Please call your Xiris account manager to receive more information regarding the immediate benefits of a system upgrade.

Preventative Maintenance Visits
Many of our clients request a Preventative Maintenance visit in conjunction with a new system delivery or as a separate service. Our technicians will optimize the performance of the system, upgrade software as applicable, look for potential part failures and conduct training as desired by the client during the visit.

Warranty
All Xiris systems are shipped with a 15-month warranty from the day of shipment from Xiris or a 12-month warranty which commences from the first day of use (whichever comes first). Please have your Xiris system serial number available when you call so we can determine your system warranty status as well as your support plan level.

Once your Warranty expires, your Xiris Account Manager will contact you to discuss your long term support needs. Xiris offers different levels of support plan.
