Xiris Automation Inc. is pleased to announce that it has purchased the intellectual property rights and all assets associated with the Optical Media division of Basler AG as of December 07, 2009. Effective immediately, Xiris will assume all aspects of Sales, Marketing, R&D, Production and Service of the Basler “R” Ident Code Reader and “L” Print Inspection Product Lines as well as the Sales of Spare Parts and Service of the “S” Scanner Product line.
Xiris will establish immediately a Sales and Service Centre near Hamburg, Germany for European customers; and in Hsinchu, Taiwan for Southern- and Eastern Asian customers.
This transaction is a result of Xiris’ desire to remain committed to the Optical Disc industry by continuing to expand its presence worldwide, and by Basler’s desire to reduce complexity and focus on larger growing markets, including Cameras for Industrial and Security Use and Surface Inspection systems for the LCD- and Solar Industries. As the Optical Media industry continues to consolidate, it was felt by Xiris and Basler that a single strong and healthy supplier of inspection equipment would continue to help the long term viability of Optical Media Manufacturing worldwide.
