Based on the success of its WI2000p Weld
Inspection system for the Tube Industry, Xiris Automation Inc. has recently begun installing its
weld inspection systems on Non-Ferrous Tube Mills. Installed right after the weld head on tube
and pipe mills, the WI2000p Inspection System can provide an early warning system to detect
defects in the weld area and the forming of the tube.
As most non-ferrous tubes are thin walled by design in order to transfer heat quickly, the thin walls often cause challenges for the forming and welding processes during fabrication. With a measurement resolution down to 8 μm in size, the system is able to detect critical defects that are difficult to detect using other forms of testing equipment, such as weld undercut, fit-up (mismatch), raised/ sunken welds, pinholes, bead position and weld height.
A complete data collection and data management system allows for fault and trend reporting for historical auditing purposes as well as providing off line data review capability for complete batch production of tubes and pipes.
Xiris Automation Inc. specializes in developing Quality Control for the Metal Fabrication industry, providing some of the world's most dynamic manufacturers with the ability to detect, recognize, and interpret quality defects in their manufactured goods.
