Xiris Releases New Open-Arc Weld Viewing Camera

November 11, 2011
Burlington, Ontario, Canada

In order to meet the growing demand for productivity and Health and Safety tools for the Welding industry, Xiris Automation Inc. will be introducing its XVC-O, an Open-Arc Weld Viewing Camera for automatic and semi-automatic welding cells, at the FABTECH 2011 Trade Show, at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL. Using a Wide Dynamic Range Camera and image processor, the system is able to achieve a dynamic range in excess of 150 dB to see the very bright light created by a welding arc as well as the dark background around the welding head. Suitable for MIG/MAG, TIG, Pulse, Laser and most other open arc welding processes, the XVC-O Weld Viewing Camera System enhances productivity for virtually any welding process.

A crystal clear view of the weld arc is generated, allowing the operator to better monitor and control all inputs in the weld environment, such as weld speed, work piece alignment, weld arc geometry and filler material length, all in real time. With better control of material inputs and weld torch alignment, weld process set up time can be reduced and welding run time productivity increased. A remote monitor allows the operator to be removed from the immediate vicinity of the weld area up to 40 metres (130 ft.) away, improving Health and Safety conditions for welding personnel.

A built-in video recording capability allows the operator to record, store and review vital Welding Process Videos off-line for Quality Assurance monitoring and Process Verification. Xiris Automation Inc. specializes in developing Quality Control for the Metal Fabrication industry, providing some of the world's most dynamic manufacturers with the ability to detect, recognize, and interpret quality defects in their manufactured goods.
