Based on the success of its standard resolution Weld Inspection system for the Tube Industry, Xiris Automation Inc. has introduced a high resolution version of its weld inspection system. Designed to be installed right after the weld head for tube and pipe mills, the high resolution Inspection System, known as the WI2000p-HR, inspects and detects a variety of quality issues related to the welding process.
Using a high resolution camera combined with fast data capture and laser imaging, the
inspection rate provides defect detection down to 8 μm in size on a typical laser welding tube
mill. Defects inspected include weld undercut, raised/ sunken welds, pinholes, bead position,
weld height and weld register (mismatch).
