Xiris Releases New PI-2000 Print Inspection
System
11 January 2005
Toronto, Canada
Xiris Automation Inc. is pleased to announce the release of its new Print Inspection
system for Optical Discs, the PI-2000. The PI-2000 system
is able to inspect print color quality and surface related defects of printed
graphics on all CDs and DVDs. The system incorporates an advanced optical
concept that captures even some of the most difficult to detect defects, such
as squeegee marks, blemishes, ghosting, and ink discoloration.
The PI-2000 system uses an advanced optical design with three light sources
and a high-resolution color camera that takes up to 5 images per disc to properly
detect all types of printed ink or metal area defects with a very low false
reject rate. Fully adjustable defect sensitivity and light intensity levels
allow for customization of inspection to each printing process for pre-recorded
or recordable media. With its space saving design, the PI-2000
system can easily be adapted to screen, offset, pad or digital printing machines
to verify the quality of printed labels before the discs leave the printing
machine.
Xiris Automation Inc. specializes in high-end machine vision solutions for Quality
Control inspection in the printing and packaging industries. Our primary
focus is to provide a number of state-of-the-art inspection products to the
