Blu-Ray Driving Growth at Xiris in 2008

Expansion of replicators into Blu-Ray production is driving growth at Xiris Automation Inc. for 2008 as several major replicators are investing heavily in printing and packaging the new format. Since the start of the year, Xiris has secured significant orders for its RS-1600 Read Side Inspection System and ID3500 Ident Code Inspection system, both of which are suitable for the Blu-Ray market. Xiris will be exhibiting both the RS-1600 & the ID3500 systems, along with the PI-1600 Printed Graphics Inspection system, at the upcoming Media Tech Expo Booth E49/G48 in Frankfurt.

The RS-1600 Read Side Inspection System performs quality inspection of the Read Side of an Optical Disc to detect basic defects in the play area of the disc, such as scratches, bumps, ink splatter and other defects. The system is able to detect most major surface related defects on the read side of CDs and DVDs once they have been printed using Digital, Screen, Offset, or Pad printing processes.

The Xiris ID-3500 is our most technically advanced Ident Code Verification System using our fourth generation design. The system is able to clearly read all formats of Optical Discs including the most challenging of Blu-Ray discs. Capable of reading and verifying most Bar Code or Alphanumeric characters printed on the hub of any format of optical disc, the system can include up to 4 Camera Modules (each with an integrated camera and light source) per Vision Processor.
