Xiris manufactures “machines that can see” quality defects in manufactured goods and continuous processes in the printing, consumer products and optical disc industries. We develop proprietary hardware and software for integration into our machine vision systems, which we design and build for a global client base. We are a vibrant and highly spirited organization of about 20 strong and growing. As a result of our success, we are expanding into new markets, and are looking to hire a Systems Engineer, preferably with experience in electronics, to lead us in developing these new technologies
The Challenge:
As a member of the Engineering team, you will:
- Act as system lead on development projects from design through to system level integration and test as well as technical and operational evaluation trials.
- Lead the development of machine vision systems hardware architecture concepts and solutions to satisfy emerging requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in specifying, implementing, and integrating electronics into our products, visiting the customer occasionally as required.
- Specify and perform the functional design, testing, and integration of projects, including overseeing hardware development projects.
- Act as a Technical and Managerial Systems lead to execute projects within the allotted time and financial budgets
- Prepare and review technical documents including subcontractor and unit interface requirements, design, test, assembly and verification documents.
- Manage sub-contractors and consultants in development of concepts, requirements specifications and design, working with customers as necessary.
As the ideal candidate you possess the following experience and talents:
- Degree in Electronics, Systems Design, or Mechanical Engineering, with an electronics bias.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience with automation and/or machine vision systems
- A proven track record of successfully implementing multi-disciplinary systems involving automation components, internally-developed and/or third-party hardware, software, etc.
- Strong ability to specify, design, develop and program special purpose electronics equipment.
- Knowledge of digital video or image processing preferred.
- Self motivated, able to work with little supervision in a small group
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills are a must.
- Must be able to occasionally travel to customers’ sites worldwide.
- Excellent analytical and design skills.
