Situation: Quality Manager, Large Asian CDR Manufacturer.
Critical Issue: The company is one of the world’s largest manufacturers
of CD-R’s. With the realization that they needed to get into the developing
DVD-R business, they made a major investment in Printing equipment.
Reasons: Because the customer base for DVD-Rs was going to be very sensitive
to heightened quality levels of their printed labels, our customer determined
a number of key performance criteria for their inspection systems. They then
reviewed the offerings on the market for the ability to meet these performance
criteria for the best print inspection system.
Vision: Of particular concern was that they were printing discs with
unique highly reflective ink causing difficult to detect defects such as ink
density changes, very small scratches and pinholes, or tiny printed defects.
We provided: We provided him with a print system that met these capabilities.
Result: The customer implemented the inspection system on their new equipment
and was so pleased with it they have implemented it in four different factories
across 28 production lines, and three different printing machines over the course
of an 18 month process.
